|We are one Volleyball team! – CEV President’s end-of-year message News from the CEV Luxembourg, December 30, 2016. It has been a truly remarkable year for Europe’s Volleyball family, and yet the best is still to come. “We have been working closely with all stakeholders, and especially with the National Federations and clubs, to change the mentality inside our institution and to explore and find new ways to grow Volleyball at all levels,” CEV President Aleksandar Boričić says, “and our organisation has undergone many changes.
The feedback we receive is very positive and it encourages us to look forward to achieving more milestones in 2017.” The CEV President and his colleagues from the Board of Administration have placed the sport and its growth at the very centre of the CEV’s activities. “Our focus lies on players, coaches, and on all those who are working every day to develop our sport at the grassroots as well as at the elite level,” Mr Boričić continues in his end-of-year message. “There is one thing I am particularly proud of: We are working as a team, as one Volleyball team, where each player is supporting the other and our achievements are the result of a collective effort.” In this respect, the CEV President has a clear view: “Working together, as a team, means that we respect each other, and that the contribution of each and every member of our family is equally important. This is the way to go if we want to raise the profile of Volleyball and increase its value, and if we want to be successful in inspiring the young generations to discover Volleyball and its core values: friendship, respect, fair play, team work.” The year 2016 has provided Europe’s Volleyball family with many highlights, including the medals won by Volleyball and Beach Volleyball players at the Rio 2016 Olympics. “Our players have achieved something really special and their success stories will certainly inspire many youngsters to follow in their footsteps. From the very first day of 2017 we will continue to work just as hard as we have done so far; we are aware about the potential of our sport and we are ready to pursue very ambitious goals,” Mr Boričić said. The CEV President started an exciting journey at the helm of Europe’s Volleyball family in Sofia in October 2015, a journey he is daily sharing with his colleagues and with all stakeholders: “Our success is the success of each and every member of our Volleyball team. Therefore, I would like to thank my colleagues from the Board of Administration, all National Feder
