Volleyball stars shine like diamonds on stage of European Volleyball Gala
Moscow, Russia, November 17, 2017. The 2017 edition of the European Volleyball Gala held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Moscow on Friday night was an opportunity to celebrate a number of major Volleyball and Beach Volleyball stars, who have left their mark throughout the 2017 season and added further accolades to their already impressive resumes. Such awards reflect the CEV’s vision to put an emphasis on star players as these can inspire the young generations to take up the sport and represent role models to look up to on and off the court as well.
CEV AWARDS OF THE PAST FOUR YEARS
In the past four years at the annual European Volleyball Gala, CEV awarded the best players and coaches of the Year. Because this event was not organized early, many big players were left without rewards. However, these are the winners of awards in the last four years:
Tine Urnaut (SLO) - Young Player of the Year
Gözde Kirdar (TUR) - Team Player of the Year
Margareta Kozuch (GER) - Most Spectacular Female Player
Earvin Ngapeth (FRA) - Most Spectacular Male Player
Francesca Piccinini (ITA) - Female Volleyball Ambassador of the Year
Sergey Tetyukhin (RUS) - Male Volleyball Ambassador of the Year
Antonella Del Core (ITA) and Vladimir Nikolov (BUG) - Volleyball Lifetime Achievement
At the age of 18, she became the bronze-medalist at the Eurovolley 2015 in the Netherlands and Belgium; a year later she took the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rio and in 2017, the Serbian opposite won the gold medal at the EuroVolley in Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Now, at the age of 20, she is officially the best player in Europe for 2017! The Serbian star has commented this great achievement in her career for WorldofVolley:
“Well, I am very happy about it. Being chosen by CEV as the best player for 2017 is a great honor for me. Especially because we all know how many great players Europe have. There are no words to describe this,” says Boskovic for WoV.
